Job summary
Red Hat's Finance team is looking for a Senior Director of Business Finance to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be expected to draw from your diverse financial knowledge, building relationships with our Sales and Services executives and adding value by using analytics and business insights to help them plan for future growth. You’ll get the opportunity to support Red Hat's growth with annual planning, forecasting, management reporting, and decision support.
Primary job responsibilities
Work with the CFO to develop and implement a consistent and rigorous global process that improves insights into the business and facilitates more timely and informed communication and decision-making
Facilitate a regular rhythm of planning and performance management within the Sales and Services teams while working effectively in a global business environment
Plan, organize, and direct the annual operating and capital budgeting processes, partnering with Sales and Services teams to develop quarterly forecasts and long-term strategic financial plans
Ensure that relevant financial information is communicated in an effective and timely manner, and make business recommendations supported by thoughtful financial analysis and insights (e.g., customer and channel profitability, competitive and pricing analyses, business modeling, portfolio management, and business case return evaluation)
Coordinate with the Finance team to prepare information for Red Hat’s investors and deliver against external reporting requirements
Collaborate with peers in IT to improve insights into the business through the implementation of excellent data warehousing and analytics tools
Collaborate closely with peers in the Sales and Services Operations team to better align processes, systems, and tools to enhance performance and to help scale the company
Partner with Sales and Services executives to manage ad hoc projects that require significant analytics, global alignment, or change management
Promote improved short-term and long-term planning processes
Maintain a three-year plan for the Sales and Services teams that incorporates the financial impacts of the Red Hat's strategies and initiatives
Use financial and operating models to measure performance against metrics
Proactively monitor trends to identify risks and opportunities across key revenue and expense categories in alignment with Sales and Services
Establish benchmarks and scorecards to assist the Sales and Services leadership team in managing fiscal discipline
Prepare management reports that monitor ongoing performance against financial goals for Sales and Services executives to review, as well as for reporting to the Red Hat corporate leadership team and the board of directors
Provide analytical insights and executive financial summaries for important strategic decisions, including significant capital investments
Required skills
10+ years of progressive experience in financial planning, strategic planning, business partnering, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, or accounting
10+ years of experience working in finance executive and senior business partnering roles, or equivalent
MBA and a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
Ability to build relationships and demonstrate value as a trusted business partner
Experience working effectively in a global environment, partnering with senior leaders
Diverse financial background, including experience with FP&A functions, business partnering, and accounting
Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance audiences and demonstrate the business value of financial analysis for future growth
Experience partnering with a product team general manager or working with an engineering organization is a big plus
