Job summary
Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us remotely in Spain. In this role, you’ll collaborate openly with a number of dynamic and diverse agile teams in a fun and engaging workplace, working from people all around the world to create value for our customers and partners in an open source way. This is a great opportunity to craft and uplift your skills while working with a wide range of modern languages, frameworks, and technologies including Node.js, Golang, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, and our extensive portfolio of cloud-native Red Hat Middleware offerings. This is a 2 years, fixed-term contract. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary job responsibilities
Be responsible for contributions to a technical environment, including coding, automating, testing, documentation, and architecture
Work closely with members of our Engineering, Operations, Quality Engineering (QE), Documentation, and Product Management teams
Assist with the planning, fulfillment, and delivery of communicated goals and projects
Contribute to open source projects
Be an advocate for Red Hat’s solutions and technologies
Work as part of and communicate with distributed teams
Required skills
5+ years of experience as a software engineer in a modern development environment, with a primary focus on either JavaScript, specifically Node.js, Golang, Python, or Java
Ability to understand requirements and communicate with authorities at a technical level
Experience with automation and DevOps tool kits like Ansible, Chef, and Puppet
Keen interest in open source and in contributing to and building of open source communities
Ability to quickly learn new technologies, frameworks, and techniques and the ability to facilitate technical conversations within your team and with external stakeholders
Ability to work both on your own and as part of an agile team
Experience with the following is considered a plus:
Containerization technologies like Kubernetes, Mesos, Docker, or LXC and cgroups
Full stack engineering, including experience with user experience design
Security frameworks and its best practices and tooling like OWASP or Snyk
System administration tools and technologies in a Linux environment
Mobile development with iOS, Android, or Apache Cordova
Jenkins and continuous integration (CI) and continuous development (CD)
Working with virtualization and public cloud services like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
