Job summary
The Red Hat Insights Engineering team is looking for an Insights Software Engineering Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will lead a team of software engineers responsible for developing management Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings, including Red Hat Insights (https://www.redhat.com/en/technologies/management/insights). You’ll participate in designing team structure, reviewing team performance, and developing team members. You’ll need to be smart, friendly, collaborative, curious and love to learn and teach as both a mentor and a mentee.
Primary job responsibilities
- Regularly partner with product management to develop and implement roadmaps
- Manage the software development life cycle for the services and tools delivered by your team using agile methodologies
- Continuously promote and guide the professional and personal development of your team
- Collaborate with management and other leaders to continuously identify and implement team process improvements
- Collaborate with and train engineers on software best practices, including unit testing and continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD)
Required skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a technology-related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in software development and engineering
- 3+ years of managing, guiding, and mentoring a team of software engineers
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under pressure
- Comfortable with an agile, CI and CD, and DevOps work style
- Experience with project management tools like JIRA
- Proven troubleshooting skills; passion for problem-solving, investigation, and learning new technologies
- Familiarity with open source software development and business models
The following are considered a plus:
- Experience with agile frameworks and methodologies and scrum implementation
- Experience with the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) distribution model
- Experience with Linux systems and administration, Linux containers, and Kubernetes
- Experience with with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
