We are looking for an AVP Product Management to lead the creation of Product Management (PM) as a key capability for growth, transformation and innovation across the region. Help define the PM organizational structure and corresponding talent profiles at both regional and local levels.

Help shape robust product strategies for all countries, first by focusing on individual LOBs and then by building a coherent comprehensive offering focusing on key customer needs.

Analyze the existing MetLife product portfolio as well as competitive offering, to clearly define the role of each product and identify streamlining opportunities and existing gaps. Build a product development pipeline that is aligned to customer needs, strategic priorities and delivers meaningful business impact.

Identify key customer segments and help shape an end to end customer experience for those target segments, in partnership with Strategy, Distribution, Servicing and Engagement. Assess customer lifetime value, identify cross-sell/up-sell opportunities and define the role of VAS.

Act as an advisor and partner to Product, Distribution and Strategy Heads in local businesses. Help create local product management and product development roadmaps and drive and monitor their implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop a Product Management capability both regionally and in local operations, raising awareness to existing capability gaps and detailing how this capability will be expected to impact the business

- Define LatAm’s product strategy across main categories (Life, Health, P&C, Retirement). Partner with local Product & Strategy teams to implement that product strategy incorporating local dynamics and constraints

- Analyze product portfolio (MetLife vs. competition), identify optimization and simplification opportunities and address portfolio/offering gaps. Determine the role of each product in the portfolio, both regionally and locally. Suggest a Retirement Program for products without a clear role in the portfolio or that do not generate value

- Assess and prioritize product development pipeline based on potential impact for business, strategic priorities, required investment and available resources

- Coordinate the NPD process, driving awareness, alignment and collaboration among all functions involved, both at regional at local level. Support and evaluate business cases and facilitate all necessary approvals. Identify opportunities to improve time to market including product design/ideation, policy admin capabilities, NPD approvals process, etc.

- Establish a true customer centric mindset by focusing on developing long lasting relationships instead of driving short term sales growth

- Drive move towards development of end to end customer solutions. Coordinate multi-disciplinary effort, incorporating key customer insights, identifying target segments and building solutions tailored to those segments

- Determine role of VAS as part of MetLife’s product offering

- Monitor and track closely the performance of existing and new products. Make product enhancements to improve efficiency, product value, organic customer engagement as well as profitability/returns

- Identify regional and country-level metrics to assess product profitability and competitiveness, and contribute to the strategic decision-making process, including:

- - Analysis and reporting of actual vs. expected results
- Identification and gap analysis of key variances in actual vs. expected assumptions
- Analyze price change requests by evaluating margin impact, potential incremental volume, and competitor price levels

- Work closely with Country Managers and local HR team to identify talent that fits required Product Management profiles and disseminates MetLife’s values and leadership competencies

- Establish effective working relationships throughout the organization. Deliver leadership, coaching, mentoring and guidance to team members holding people accountable for achieving their goals

Candidate qualifications:

- 10+ years of experience working in product management roles (with 5 years in roles with P&L responsibility) in insurance and/or financial services companies.
- Experience working at complex, multinational, matrix-type organizations.
- Bachelor´s Degree in Business from an accredited university with postgraduate studies.
- Strong business acumen (insurance business)
- Project management skills together with the production of metrics to monitor projects and businesses
- Expert user or functional leader of competitive intelligence and research.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – must be able to communicate effectively both internally, with a functionally and geographically diverse team, and externally with customers.
- Fluent in Spanish and English; Portuguese desirable.
