Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / VP of FinanceAs CFO / VP of Finance at Cakemail, a Canada-based company of 35 employees, you'll combine strategic leadership and hands-on financial management, serving as a critical advisor to our CEO and leadership team.
Following our recent acquisition and ambitious growth targets, your role will be essential in both shaping our financial strategy and executing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring a robust foundation for scaling the company.
Core Responsibilities: Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and maintain Cakemail's long-term financial model, aligning financial strategy with overall business goals.Serve as an internal strategic advisor, helping departments leverage financial insights to optimize decision-making and performance.Financial Operations and Controls: Oversee accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, monthly budget variance analyses, and ongoing accounting processes.Ensure effective cash flow management and maintain detailed forecasting models to anticipate funding needs.Automation and Reporting: Drive initiatives to automate financial processes, enabling real-time reporting of key performance indicators and financial health metrics.Oversee cross-departmental reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and relevance of financial data across the organization.Mergers & Acquisitions and Fundraising: Lead financial due diligence for acquisitions, ensuring smooth financial integration post-acquisition.Manage capital planning, including funding strategy, investor relations, negotiation, and rapid deal closures.Compliance and Optimization: Ensure timely access to government incentives, tax credits, and subsidies.Act as primary contact with banks, auditors, legal advisors, and tax consultants, maintaining compliance and financial optimization.Maintain constant diligence readiness for investors, auditors, and strategic partners.Build and mentor a finance team suitable for Cakemail's growth stage.Foster a culture of precision, continuous improvement, and proactive diligence.Requirements: Extensive experience in both strategic and operational finance roles within high-growth SaaS or technology environments.Proven experience managing detailed financial operations, accounting, M&A activities, fundraising processes, and investor relations.Strong familiarity with SaaS metrics, technology company operations, and industry-specific financial KPIs.Exceptional capability to translate complex financial data into actionable strategic insights.Strong communicator and trusted advisor capable of embedding financial discipline across departments for operational excellence.Seniority level: Executive
