We are seeking a Hybrid Commodity Analyst to join our team in Argentina.
Role Overview: This individual will join our rapidly growing agricultural market advisory business as a thought leader, enabling all of our commercial units through research, insights, and recommendations.
This role is crucial in establishing our company as a leader in the agricultural market advisory space.

Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the brokerage and data science teams to develop, maintain, and enhance a commodity price forecasting and market bias engine.Identify, ingest, and analyze large-scale agricultural datasets (e.g., USDA, satellite imagery, weather, shipping/export data, supply/demand) to generate insights.Design and structure market data, forecasts, and insights for seamless integration with LLM-powered chat tools, ensuring accurate and timely communication to farmer subscribers.Translate complex model outputs into simple, farmer-relevant narratives and visuals to support crop marketing decisions.Support in-field advisory programs by communicating analyses and recommendations to farmer-facing advisors regularly.Present insights and forecasts in public settings, including farmer seminars and media interviews.Work closely with the product team to develop next-generation online tools supporting marketing efforts for farms.Refine our Crop Marketing philosophy and explore new ways to serve our members' marketing needs.Qualifications: MS or Ph.D. required.3–7 years in quantitative research, data science, or analytics roles within commodity markets, agtech, trading firms, hedge funds, or research institutions.Experience applying machine learning and AI techniques (e.g., ensemble models, deep learning, time-series modeling) to commodity market datasets.Familiarity with NLP models (e.g., LLMs) and prompt engineering for AI-enhanced customer communication.Proficiency in data visualization tools and frameworks for delivering insights to non-technical audiences.Experience collaborating across teams (engineering, sales, product) to align modeling outputs with commercial needs.Passion for agriculture and farming, with a farmer-first mindset.Highly independent, goal-oriented, and creative.Willing to work in a fast-paced startup environment, understanding it may not be a traditional 9-5 role.Willingness to travel 10-15% of the time.Preferred Qualifications: Specialized knowledge of corn, soybeans, wheat markets.Experience with programming environments such as R, Python, MatLab, PostgreSQL.Application of advanced machine learning tools for price prediction and supply-demand analysis.Compensation: $35 - $40 an hour About 1840 & Company 1840 & Company is a global leader in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and remote talent solutions, connecting businesses with freelance professionals worldwide.
