Credit Analyst - Commercial Lending ManagementCiti Commercial Lending Management (CLM) is an integral part of the Citi Commercial Banking (CCB) organization.
CLM's mandate is to deliver best-in-class credit risk analysis, monitoring, and credit administration as a partner of both CCB Business and Independent Risk areas, thus ensuring the safety and soundness of lending across CCB.
CLM Credit Analysts are responsible for a portfolio of CCB Relationships, owning the Credit Risk Analysis for those relationships and being responsible for the continuous monitoring of that portfolio.
That includes the production of Annual Reviews, Interim Reviews, Credit Memos, Criticized Credit Memos (if applicable), and support for Ad-Hoc Transactions and Portfolio & Industry Reviews and Stress Testing.
A CLM Credit Analyst is expected to have a deep understanding of credit risk, Citi's internal policies and procedures, and different industry fundamentals.
With minimal supervision from the CLM Head, they are able to have thoughtful conversations with Independent Risk and Business Coverage partners.
They apply analytical thinking using data analysis tools and methodologies and pay attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of information.
They are able to communicate potentially complex/sensitive information and develop duties following high-quality standards and in an acceptable turnaround time.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess the credit and financial strength of Citi's CCB clients by performing fundamental credit analysis of counterparties using both quantitative and qualitative factors.Complete Credit Analysis Write-up Memos and Final Obligor Risk Ratings of Citi's Counterparties based on independent assessment and judgment completed on the due diligence of the client and industry knowledge to provide appropriate extensions of credit remaining within CCB Risk appetite.Continuous monitoring of the covered portfolio, including following industry trends, impacts to key relationships, and escalation of potential credit issues to CLM Head, Independent Risk, and Business coverage partners.Review and provide recommendations on the risk ranking across different industries.Partner with applicable regional and industry stakeholders across Citi in the implementation of credit assessment and monitoring standards for applicable portfolios.Provide preliminary analysis of simple and complex credits including calculation of cash flow, debt service coverage, leverage, and other ratios.Qualifications:
2-5 years prior experience in a financial institution with a focus on credit analysis and spreading software.Extensive knowledge of GAAP accounting, financial regulations, financial products, and credit analysis.Well-developed analytical skills, including understanding of key financial components (liquidity position, leverage profile) with the ability to identify root causes and trends and anticipate horizon issues.Forms independent opinions on credit and recognizes emerging risks.Sets the standard for industry research capabilities, including risk and key drivers.Demonstrates ability to identify and escalate potential risk issues.Consistently demonstrates solid and concise written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.Education: This job description provides a high-level review of the types of work performed.
