Data Analyst

A Data Analyst plays a crucial role in comprehending data within the broader business context and value chain, with the aim of converting data into valuable insights for enhanced decision-making. This is achieved through scientific exploration, analytics, and data manipulation. By leveraging their expertise, the Data Analyst identifies the correlation between business workflows and data, enabling the integration of data into reusable products that can be visualized to facilitate informed decision-making by the organization.

As a Data Analyst, you will:
Work with the business stakeholders and delivery teams to gather, clean / prepare, analyse, and report / visualize data to support business decisions while maintaining data governance and compliance.

Data Collection: Gathering data from multiple sources, such as databases, spreadsheets, and APIs, and ensuring its accuracy and completeness.

Data Cleaning and Preparation: Scrutinizing data to identify inconsistencies, errors, or missing information and rectifying them. This process may involve data transformation, filtering, and normalization to ensure data quality.

Data Analysis: Applying statistical techniques, data mining, and data visualization methods to discover patterns, trends, and correlations within the data. This analysis helps uncover insights and extract actionable information.

Reporting and Visualization: Creating visual representations, such as charts, graphs, and dashboards, to present data analysis results in a clear and concise manner. This enables stakeholders to easily understand and interpret the findings.

Decision Support: Collaborating with stakeholders, such as managers, executives, or product teams, to understand their requirements and provide data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making. Data Analysts help identify opportunities, solve problems, and optimize business processes based on their analysis.

Data Governance and Compliance: Ensuring data integrity, privacy, and security by adhering to industry regulations and best practices. Data Analysts work closely with IT and legal departments to maintain data governance frameworks and protect sensitive information.

Continuous Improvement: Staying updated with the latest tools, techniques, and industry trends in data analysis and actively seeking ways to improve data processes, methodologies, and efficiency.

Requirements
Experience
Experience working with various data sources and connections

Experience in data modelling and visualization

Data strategy, policies, and governance

Skills
Programmatic data retrieval (using SQL, Python, for example)

Familiar with data visualization tool (Microsoft Power BI, TIBCO Spotfire)

Data modelling (AAS or PBI)

Preferred Education
B.S. or M.S. in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics or Engineering.
