Dfc - Environmental and Social Specialist (Remote)Backoffice Abroad
BA Global Talent is seeking an experienced Environmental and Social Specialist to support the DFC in assessing environmental and social risks, impacts, and mitigation measures for projects seeking DFC support.
The role also involves monitoring the environmental and social performance of active DFC projects across various finance products in Latin America.
The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) partners with the private sector to address global challenges, offering financial products including Political Risk Insurance (PRI) to support investments in developing countries.
Responsibilities:Support environmental and social assessment and monitoring of DFC LatAm projects.Coordinate with E&S Divisions to ensure consistent project assessments.Assess risks and performance against DFC's Environmental and Social Policy and Procedures, IFC Performance Standards, local and international laws, conventions, and guidelines.Review environmental and social documentation, management systems, and plans for adequacy and compliance.Prepare gap analyses, approval memos, and action plans for compliance.Guide clients on environmental and social requirements, procedures, and capacity building.Support development of external support terms and review project reports and deliverables.Monitor ongoing project impacts through reports and site visits.Prepare status reports on environmental and social performance, identifying non-compliance issues and recommending corrective actions.Collaborate with DFC staff, consultants, and external organizations for assessments and monitoring.Perform site-based due diligence and compliance monitoring as needed.Conduct site visits and prepare reports on findings within 15 days.Qualifications:Must be a U.S. Citizen.Fluent in Spanish.Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.Advanced degree in environmental science, geology, geography, sociology, anthropology, or related fields.Minimum of 8 years' experience in environmental and social impact assessments and management systems evaluation.At least 5 years' experience working with DFIs and/or the private sector in Latin America.Strong understanding of principles, standards, and guidelines in impact assessment in developing countries.The description has been refined for clarity and formatting.
