Title : Director of Safety and Security Discovery Land Companys location in The Dominican Republic is currently seeking a Director of Safety and Security for Playa Grande Golf and Ocean Club. This position requires being fluent in both English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
Provide hands:on and daily operational security management of a 24/7 security department utilizing solid leadership and mentor skills with a proactive approach resulting in a secure, safe and private Club environment.
Be willing and available to address concerns outside of normal business hours.
Develop professional collaboration among other key club managers and communicate your department?s needs and direction effectively to senior club managers.
Continue developing key training requirements for the guard force and lead those requirements to improve officer readiness, capabilities and retention and improve upon the department?s bilingual capabilities.
Assume a pivotal role in assisting with the club?s emergency medical program and readiness.
Build upon the current Master Security Plan for club operations, policies and procedures and emergency actions regarding all elements of safety and security, including natural and man made disasters (i.e., floods, hurricanes, fires, etc.).
Develop and maintain current governance and policies to ensure the safe and private operation of club business and the privacy of members.
Assume a key role in identifying any and all security threats, hazards, risks, and vulnerabilities and develop mitigating strategies to counter threats, while ensuring the security team maintains effective situational awareness.
Develop key policies and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to the club by bad actors with malevolent intent. Be proactive in addressing loss prevention and theft from club premises, including construction materials.
Assist and coordinate efforts in researching and making recommendations regarding ongoing security technologies, systems, uniforms, equipment, devices, including vehicle and personal access control, perimeter security and effective CCTV coverage, as well as assisting in forensic investigations.
Assist with preparing any Request for Proposals regarding security products or services.
Assist club COO and CFO with creating security budgets through various phases of the club?s development.
If club management decides to use armed security contractors, as Security Director you will lead efforts to ensure compliance, training and qualifications, procedures, rules of engagement, use of force options, appropriate insurance and other requirements for armed personnel. This effort may include consulting with a qualified third:party advisor.
Assist in identifying and recruiting security personnel as needed to maintain effective staffing levels during day:to:day operations and during peak times (e.g., special events, seasonal increased numbers of members on property, etc.).
Coordinate the executive protection of VIP members and guests, ensuring their comfort, safety and privacy. Implement a security program that will ensure the highest levels of confidentiality.
Oversee risk management and occupational health and safety to mitigate any risk associated with club activities during construction and eventual transition to residential occupancy and special event management.
Provide command, control and response coordination of any critical incident that occurs on property and ensure key club and corporate management personnel are notified and updated. Work alongside with local emergency service agencies, ensuring legal is informed of their involvement when working within the confines of the club property.
Conduct and supervise internal investigations when necessary and report findings to senior management and others as required.
Maintain a geopolitical and security intelligence capability and provide security analysis for consideration to club senior management, partners and investors as required.
