Head Clinical Development and Operations - South America RegionThe position: The Local Head of Clinical Development and Operations (CD&O) South America is responsible for leading a local CD&O team that is part of the LATAM region.
The responsibilities include contributing to the performance and excellence of the region.
Within the region, the Local Head CD&O South America (referred to as "CD&O country") executes CD&O activities at the country level, aligning with the HPBU, Medicine Excellence, and CD&O vision, strategies, goals, and operating model to ensure the successful delivery (speed & value) of clinical trials.
The role involves ensuring the execution and delivery of clinical trials allocated to the country that meet pipeline commitments, scientific, medical, regulatory, and commercial needs.
The position also involves identifying opportunities for competitive advantage, driving clinical development excellence, and performance management.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring excellence in clinical development and operations, focusing on pipeline delivery, leadership, and best practices.Overseeing the clinical development portfolio and pipeline commitments.Ensuring operational excellence in trial preparation, conduct, analysis, and reporting.Implementing strategic outsourcing models aligned with corporate strategy.Embedding site & patient engagement strategies in clinical trials.Engaging with local stakeholders to gather insights and improve customer experience.Providing local insights, benchmarking, and feedback from stakeholders.Understanding local healthcare and research environments.Building networks with internal and external stakeholders to increase awareness of Boehringer Ingelheim's programs.Creating an inspiring and motivating environment for the team, promoting a unified CD&O identity.Ensuring team members are clear on their responsibilities and deliverables.Maintaining standards, processes, and performance to improve delivery efficiency, timelines, and quality while managing costs.Ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal, ethical standards, and internal SOPs.Maintaining a skilled CD&O team through hiring, talent development, and retention.Participating in talent development and organizational effectiveness initiatives.Managing budgets and resources effectively.Regularly communicating trial status and performance, escalating issues as needed.The position requires a strategic, proactive leader with strong stakeholder engagement skills, regulatory knowledge, and experience in clinical development operations within the South American healthcare context.
