DescriptionTeams:
The place of employment is in Paris in France.
One full-time position is open for a period of 1 year with possible extension.
The candidate will join the Systems Toxicology team led by Professor K. Audouze (>) under the INSERM unit 1124.
SysTox is specialized in the development of innovative and new AI methods and models with the aim to have a better understanding of the effect from chemical exposure on human health.
SysTox is composed of 7 bioinformaticians (professor and engineers), 3 experimentalists (researcher, associate professor and engineer) and 2 international PhD students (one from Korea, and one from Czech Republic).
The successful candidate will spend most of his/her time with PARC activities, especially for web development.
General background:
The Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals (PARC) led by ANSES and granted under Horizon Europe is one of the largest projects of its kind in the world with over 200 partners from all over Europe and a budget of €400 million.
PARC will develop, apply and use New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) in hazard and risk assessment of chemicals.
These in vitro and in silico approaches will be combined with the development of new methods for hazard and risk assessments, and use of Next Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA) approaches.
Activities in PARC are closely linked to regulatory needs as identified by EU organizations such as the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and other international agencies.
Project:
The aim of the candidate's project will be to develop a website to help toxicologists verify the compliance of their regulatory tests with EU requirements.
The successful candidate will work in strong collaboration with international biologists and toxicologists to design the website with interactive data visualization.
As the PARC project is a European project, some meetings will be in English.
REQUIRED PROFILESkills and Professional Abilities
Required Knowledge:
Excellent skills in Python programming; knowledge of other languages would be a plus.Excellent expertise in web development (PHP, CSS, HTML or frameworks such as Django) and data visualization.Excellent knowledge in database development and management.Good knowledge in bioinformatics and cheminformatics.Good general knowledge in biology/biochemistry, and ideally have notions in toxicology.Mandatory English level B2 to C2 (CEFR).Know how:
- Programming, installing the necessary tools on the machines.
- Knowledge in computational biology tools/software.
- Adaptation to the specific needs of the research project.
- Know how to carry out a study analysis (preparation and integration of data, statistical analysis, interpretation, report of results and exchange with other non-bioinformatic researchers).
- Working in a team.
- Good organization of your work for reproducibility of analyses.
- Know how to communicate with non-bioinformatics researchers.
