Integration Architect Job Description The Integration Specialist is a member of the Integration Center of Excellence (ICOE) team. The Integration Specialist has broad knowledge of the Information Management Practice of Data Integration. They provide advice and expertise on data or application integration. They collaborate with Enterprise Architecture in creating the corporate data integration strategy. They drive enablement of new capabilities.
The Integration Specialist engages all project with integration requirements giving an initial assessment in project resourcing meetings. They work closely with Solution Architects and Business Analysts to carefully gather and analyze a project’s integration requirements. The Integration Specialist, in a Solution Architect equivalent role, ensures the right K-C assets are utilized to deliver the required integration capability.
The Integration Specialist owns or stewards integration platforms ensuring stability. They are responsible for ensuring that the defined integration framework deliverables are created and reviewed annually. They define and promote integration standards and participate in communities of practice.
Daily Responsibilities
Integration platform ownership or stewardship of assigned platforms which includes the following responsibilities:
Serve as an integration architect
For each assigned platform, oversee creation and maintenance of ICOE Integration Framework documentation including: naming conventions, development best practices, targeted use cases, software and infrastructure roadmaps, security practices, business continuity procedures, vendor engagement procedures, support procedures, developer procedures, as well as training requirements for developers
Develop frameworks and integration components
Maintenance of integration inventory in Smart 360
Maintenance of CMDB in Service Now
Information Management Practice
Identification and documentation of integration patterns
Keep current on data integration trends and best practices
In conjunction with Enterprise Architecture, contribute to K-C’s data integration strategy
Drive enablement of new integration platforms
Project Engagements
Implement integration scenarios using Mulesoft and open-source tools
Participate in quarterly project resourcing meetings, identifying projects with integration requirements
Provide high level estimates of ICOE participation based on early integration requirements assessment
Assist in collecting detailed integration requirements and specifying integration solution architecture (keeping in mind the API Strategy)
Processing exceptions when solution architects and integration specialist disagree
Updating Clarity with hours worked for each engagement
Other
Collaborate with solution architects and business analysts on enhancements advising on integration solution architecture
Provide general advice and expertise on the information management practice of integration
Educate IT community on integration best practices and K-C standards through sponsored training and participation in Yammer discussions
Engage external entities and exchange ideas, best practices, lessons learned around practice of data integration
Skills / Experience Required
At least 10 years overall experience in IT applications development or consulting related to IT applications development, including hands-on experience developing interfaces
Experience with 1 or more of the following data integration platforms:
MuleSoft / Anypoint Platform & Anypoint Studio
SAP Data Services
SAP PI
Oracle ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) / Talend ESB / Sprint Integration / Apache Camel / Apache Service Mix / JBoss ESB / TIBCO Business Works
Strong distributed computing knowhow. Hands-on experience in Web services and API management technologies (SOAP/REST, XML/JSON, XSLT, RAML).
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Maven, Jenkins, Azure Devops, Git
Industry experience applying integration concepts, patterns, platforms, & technologies
Prior experience in building enterprise applications using micro services architecture a plus
SAP or any other ERP experience a plus
MuleSoft Certification a plus
Non-technical skills
Strong communication skills in English; additional languages a plus
Demonstrated experience working on a global team collaboratively and independently
Demonstrated experience giving and receiving feedback
Experience working with Agile Methodology and Product teams a plus
At least 5 years in technical development and leadership roles on data integration projects including activities such as the following
Design and developing with data integration tools
Creation of business requirements documents
Creation of technical specification documents
Responsibility for creation of overall integration solution architecture
Proficient in creating and understanding solution architecture diagrams and data flow diagrams
Previous experience as a member of an Integration Competency Center or Center of Excellence a plus
