The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation’s lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
Office of the General Counsel (OGC) supports the Legal department's delivery of legal services through an application of Legal and other professional disciplines. Legal Third Party Oversight (TPO) is a division within the Office of the General Counsel that provides oversight of, and manages the relationships with, outside counsel engaged by JPMC.The candidate will be responsible for providing management and strategic support to the TPO team. The candidate will lead a team of TPO staff by providing coaching and performance development to ensure that the department’s goals are being met. The candidate will work closely with the domestic TPO management team and escalate issues as needed.
Responsibilities:
Provide management and leadership support for the TPO BACC team. The candidate should have a general understanding of vendor oversight requirements.
Serve as a leader for TPO. Assist with the development of less experienced team members. Build partnerships, establish and maintain productive business relationships with key clients, stakeholders and colleagues.
Partner with Human Resources to identify and attract, retain, and develop diverse talent.
Support and positively influence change management; support staff and colleagues through process changes
Communicate to staff and colleagues in a respectful, clear and inclusive manner and foster a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
Serve as a point of contact/escalation for the BACC team.
Present department metrics and strategic initiative updates to TPO senior management. Understand the drivers of performance and develop action plans to improve the results of the department.
Build and mature a culture focused on the pro-active awareness and improvement of the risk and control environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 4 years banking/business experience required.
Prior experience with data analysis and/or reporting required.
Team Management experience minimum 2 years required.
Legal education or law firm/corporate legal experience helpful but not required
Strong communication skills in both Spanish and English required (English proficiency and skill testing may apply).
Excellent writing skills with the ability to effectively draft and share information related to legal, operational and corporate requirements
Strong strategic, analytical, reasoning, and pattern recognition skills with the ability to identify items that may require escalation and special handling
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects independently, follow tight deadlines, and prioritize work
Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to manage in a fast-paced environment
High degree of flexibility and adaptability when dealing with fluctuating requirements and new processes
Highly proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office products and proficient with presenting PowerPoint decks.
Operations Management / Finance background preferred.
Vendor management experience preferred.
