JOB SUMMARY The Reflections Coordinator is responsible for managing all facets of service to address resident care needs in the Memory Care Community. The Reflections Coordinator hires, trains, supervises and schedules the care givers and med techs. The Reflections Coordinator monitors resident care needs, alerts the Wellness Director when the resident has a change in condition, addresses resident and family concerns, responds to the resident special requests and acts as a liaison with community providers. The Reflections Coordinator must exhibit genuine interest in residents with dementia and show patience and understanding while working with residents, families and visitors. The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.
BENEFITS Health Insurance offerings such as medical, dental, and vision insuranceOther Insurance offerings such as life, disability, accident, and critical illness insurance401k plan with matchingHSA optionsEmployee assistance programsPaid sick, vacation and birthday!Career development programs and opportunity for advancementCharitable and philanthropic opportunitiesTuition ReimbursementFree shift meal!POSITION OVERVIEW Manage the staffing needs of the Reflections Community by interviewing, hiring, training, supervising, and scheduling of caregiver and scheduling med tech coverage.Assist the Business Office Manager in the completion of new hire paperwork, tracking attendance logs, monitoring time sheets, performing employee evaluations per company policy, and staying within the required budget for staffing.Identify staff educational needs including scheduling and coordinating new hire orientation training, weekly mini-modules, and coordinating all mandatory and required in-service meetings for the memory care staff.Conduct training for dementia related behaviors, interventions, and conditions.Assure that care staff is educated about the needs of our residents with dementia and that they are knowledgeable of the resident's negotiated service plan and task/assignment sheets.Observe and report symptoms and changes in condition of residents to the Wellness Director.Assist in administering medications and records reactions.Maintain records reflecting the resident's conditions.Direct the supervision, oversee, and participate in the delivery of care giving and coordination of resident health care needs and assure that resident care needs are addressed.Able to perform duties and possess the ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations according to MorningStar's standards and guidelines.Promotes teamwork with all departments.Assures that resident care managers report all changes in resident's conditions to the Wellness Director and document these changes on the Daily Log.Prepare and administer medications according to procedure.Work with the Wellness Director to develop, maintain, and update resident's Negotiated Service Plans, Assessments, and task/assignment sheets at move-in, at change of condition, and every 3 months in collaboration with other departments. Gather input from the resident care managers prior to updating these.Maintain ongoing communication with the resident, and resident's family regarding the resident's care needs and assist with counseling of residents and families.Ensure all infection control guidelines are met and that staff have a sufficient continuous supply of gloves and other protective supplies.Report incidents of suspected resident abuse immediately. Complete incident reports and present for follow up to the Wellness Director and Executive Director within 24 hours and according to state and federal guidelines.Complete the Incident tracker monthly. Work with the Wellness Director to complete the addendum for interventions and reductions in incidents and reviews at the QA/safety committee meeting monthly.Coordinate state required training with Wellness Director to ensure regulatory requirements are met.Ensure that resident care managers participate in taking residents to prescribed activities and for those residents who may be physically unable to attend, that they spend additional one on one time with them.Work with the Life Enrichment Coordinator to set up and coordinate the daily activity schedule specific to dementia residents.Ensure resident specific activity interest/ability assessment is conducted and included in the resident service plan.Coordinate the delivery of ongoing quarterly support groups for resident family members.QUALIFICATIONS Demonstration of our Core Values: Love, Kindness, Honesty, Goodness, Fairness, Respect.License/Certification: Successful completion of State approved Medication Administration training and a current first aid certificate.Education/Experience: Minimum of 2 years of health-related experience including caring for people with dementia preferred, or supervisory/management experience working with people with dementia.Job Knowledge: Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in providing dementia related resident-care service, understanding of standard techniques use in providing personal services for dementia residents and in caring for equipment and supplies. Good understanding of the basis of universal precautions to avoid infection of residents and self or contamination of equipment and supplies, be aware of the assessment process and the development and execution of negotiated care plans for resident with dementia.Other: Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, document manuals, etc. must have good communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate in English and understand and follow written and oral directions.
