Job Summary

The candidate will work as part of the Insights Dev Ops team to deliver existing data products to clients, help develop new capabilities around Natural Language Processing (NLP) extraction and Machine Learning (ML), and develop and deploy processes related to data analysis, data quality,
and data delivery.

Job Functions

- Work with business stakeholders to translate business goals into analytics use cases; propose and implement appropriate data science approaches to deliver insights and/or models using NLP
- Text mine a database of 50M+ unstructured text records using a graphical NLP platform and its APIs to generate datasets to be used for subsequent analytical processes.
- Develop and apply end-to-end NLP methodologies for sentiment analysis, text classification, topic modeling
- Build a deep understanding of the Company’s products, services, data, and customers to facilitate the development of customized data solutions for our clients and stakeholders.
- Dives into machine learning engineering and researching topics including ML algorithms, feature engineering, analysis, modeling, and production deployment.
- Develops training and cross-validation data sets for machine learning algorithms.
- Identifies new opportunities for applying ML technology to improve business workflows and processes.

Requirements

- Demonstrated background in NLP and machine learning using ‘noisy’ and unstructured text data
- Degree in computer science, data science, computational linguistics, information retrieval, statistics, applied math, or other quantitative field is preferred
- Has demonstrated experience working with large data sets in Hadoop and traditional SQL databases
- Experience with implementation/deployment of NLP pipeline from end to end
- Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, R
- Solid background in statistical learning techniques for NLP (HMMs, CRFs, SVMs, LDA, LSI, MRFs)
- Must have experience in: document/text classification, sentiment analysis, topic modelling, information extraction, ontology. Strong plus for: Natural Language Understanding (NLG), entity/relation extraction, summarization, semantics, question answering, knowledge graph, building domain-specific ontologies
- Experience with modern deep learning approaches to NLP: word/paragraph embeddings, structured prediction, sentiment analysis, disambiguation
- Strong understanding of text pre-processing and normalization techniques, such as tokenization, POS tagging and parsing and how they work at a low level.
- Knowledge of python-based or other visualization tools (ggplot, matplotlab, seaborn, D3.js, Tableau, etc.)
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently with a ‘sense of urgency’ in order to deliver high-quality/error-free output while meeting critical deadlines in ambiguous situations.
- Experience working with business stakeholders to translate business goals into analytics solutions;
- Ability to discuss modeling approaches, alternatives, trade-offs, and understanding of development practices (testing, code design, complexity, and code optimization)
- Ability to quickly prototype ideas and solve complex problems by adapting creative approaches.
- Detail oriented with strong investigative and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to proactively engage in a teamwork culture

Desired Skills & Experience

- Advanced degree in Data Science with a focus in NLP/computation linguistics
- Experience using NLP platforms and other open-source NLP toolkits like NLTK, CoreNLP, OpenNLP, gensim, LingPipe, Mallet, etc.
- Experience with pre-built machine learning platforms such as Amazon Comprehend on AWS
- ?2+ years’ NLP experience
- 2+ years’ experience building and managing data pipelines.
