DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY: Assists nursing staff by transcribing physician's orders during emergent situations.
Continuously observes, documents, and reports the cardiac rhythm status in the units and/or on telemetry.
Performs clerical duties ensuring accuracy of unit records.
Serves as communication center for nursing unit.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Clinical Manager, and Clinical Supervisor.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmias courses required within three (3) months of employment.
Medical Terminology preferred.CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: BLS issued through American Heart Association preferred.SKILLS: Cardiac monitoring experienceBasic computer and typing skillsExcellent phone etiquetteStrong spelling abilitiesAbility to read, speak, and write English fluentlyExperience operating facsimile and duplicating equipment preferredEXPERIENCE: One year experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Supervision and EnvironmentResponsible to: Director / Clinical Manager
Environment: Bloodborne pathogen B.
Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is potential exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals.
Cleaning, repair, and replacement of protective equipment will be provided by the hospital.
Physical RequirementsMost work is performed while sitting for long periods, with hands and arms slightly raised.
Requires regular changes in position between sitting, standing, and walking.
Must be able to carry up to 25 pounds and transport patients over 200 pounds by wheelchair.
Ability to listen to multiple conversations while performing tasks and utilize available tools to prevent injuries.
