We in new type production planning are responsible for the technical implementation of new models in our worldwide production network. Our job is to prepare the plant for series production.
Your position is located in Beijing BBAC. You will plan and build up the body-in white production cells for future Mercedes-Benz car models. Furthermore you become part of the huge PP family at BBAC.
We, as the body shop planning department, are at the interface between RD and Production. Our responsibility is to bring the car body design into reality. Therefore, we develop, plan and realize necessary production solutions for the Mercedes production network worldwide. In China at BBAC, we have a strong foot print in all running and upcoming projects and moreover a cross connection to our lead and mother plants in the whole Mercedes world. Using different joining technologies like spot welding, MIG welding , and laser welding as well as gluing, clinching, screwing and riveting we tackle the ever more challenges in hybrid body concepts worldwide in standardized solution concepts. Your future position will have a mix of office work and onsite presence, changing over the different phases of the projects. You have a team of experienced planners surrounding you, helping you with problems and guiding your growth in the company. Throughout the project phases, you will have to deal with technical problems and questions and solve them together with your partners as well as report progress and risks to the project management. As a planner you are responsible for a big area and expensive equipment so you will be a project leader in your own area, making sure that milestones are kept and budget is not overstepped.
Task Description Your tasks will vary depending on the stage of the project and will include:
Early planning phase:
- - Clarifying planning premises, create first draft layouts and prepare tender documents for supplier quotations
- - Hosting project days and evaluating incoming supplier quotations for technical and economical feasibility.
Design Phase:
- - Evaluate product changes and influences and adjust plans to implement them
- - Bring in ideas and technical know how to develop high quality and efficient production cells
- - Guide the suppliers in design and ensure Mercedes Benz standards are implemented
- - Control and oversee the delivery, installation and commissioning of production equipment
- - Solve technical problems onsite and mediate between stakeholders to achieve the best overall results
Ramp up phase
- - Cooperate with research & development, production and quality departments to bring the product to Mercedes Benz quality standards and improve maturity with every produced car.
- - Optimize the cells to achieve high volume output and stability

Qualifications Education:
Master of Science in Industrial Engineering; Bachelor of Science in Process Engineering and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Engineering
Experience:
- - Ability to communicate in English fluently is a must, preferably also basic German
- - Intercultural competence
- - Outstanding communication behavior comes naturally for you as a team player
- - Professional experience in technical planning and project management and / or equivalent professional training is desired
- - Experience in project management, automotive development and supplier-management are highly beneficial
- - Experience in manufacturing, cost optimization and quality management respectively quality loops in the Production are beneficial
- - Familiar with Bodyshop processes and/or technologies, Conveyor systems and Plant simulations are beneficial
