QA Functional Engineer.
IT QA Engineer creates test deliverables (for example, strategies, plans and test cases) and performs hands-on testing for internally developed or external purchased products. Types of testing may include system, integration, regression and end-to-end testing. IT Testing Specialists deploy or execute job streams for creating test beds as appropriate, design test scenarios, author test scripts, execute tests and track defects to certify that applications meet the approved system requirements. IT Testing Specialists collaborate with other IT staff as appropriate, to review and understand system requirements and design, review test strategy and design, identify resolution for defects identified during testing,
and also to analyze and make specific recommendations on usability/functionality improvements that can be integrated into business processes. · Creates a test approach, identifying scope of testing with risk based approach for each feature or scope of work in a project effort identifying test environments, dependencies, constraints, prioritizing test cases and scheduling time for the testing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring end to end testing methodology including all appropriate documentation and requirements.
- Responsible for creating the appropriate test data and set up the correct test conditions to execute test cases.
- Responsible for executing test cases, recording results, identifying system or application problems and writing clear, descriptive and valid test reports.
- Identifies tests that are good candidates for automation.
- Identifies approaches for risk based testing for each feature or scope of work in a project effort and prioritizes test execution in order to test high risk/high impact scenarios first.
- Must be able to communicate clearly, interact with developers and business analysts to track and resolve defects.
- Must have at least around 5 years' experience focused on testing.
Required Skills:
- Understand Software development process;
- Understand the QA process regarding the Testing Life Cycle;
- Analyze Requirements document thoroughly;
- Develop test data to satisfy test cases;
- Execute test cases successfully;
- Identify defects;
- Track defects till they are resolved;
- Support deployment releases (major release, minor release, fast tracks, migrations);
- Interpret Defects, ask necessary questions and test them as required;
- Troubleshooting and investigation skills;
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Relevant Experience working in web based applications or website builders tools.
These skills are a plus:
- Unix skills is a plus, to navigate through the file system, view logs, identify the purpose of scripts and run scripts;
- Basic knowledge of SQL to develop queries and run them in TOAD or SQL Plus;
- XML previous experience is also a plus;
- Having experience in Jira is also a plus.
