Your Role and Responsibilities: The Country Tax Lead should oversee all tax aspects of IBM's operation in Argentina, Ecuador, and Uruguay.
He/She will take care of all tax compliance matters for the local entities, partnering with internal tax centers, and with external tax advisor/compliance firm.
He/She will be coordinating tax audits and the relationship with the Tax Authorities.
He/She will be liaising closely with local finance and accounting staff as well as external tax advisors.
Furthermore, he/she will pro-actively identify weaknesses in current processes and identify solutions, to ensure that tax processes are in place and deliver the correct output.
Our various business units and management will seek his/her expert advice on tax questions in both a local and international context.
In the area of tax planning, he/she will work together with regional and worldwide tax functions, supporting major international M&A transactions and other tax strategic projects.
Detailed Job Description: Regional Country Tax Lead Argentina, Ecuador, and Uruguay:
Work Location: Buenos Aires City
Reporting Line: To Regional Tax Manager Spanish South America & Caribbean located in Buenos Aires City
Responsible for 1 legal entity in each of the following countries: Argentina, Ecuador, and Uruguay, and main responsibilities of the position will include:
Review corporate tax calculation (local tax and US-deferred taxes acc.
to FAS109 as prepared by Accounting)Provide guidance to Accounting-function on corporate tax adjustments (permanent/timing)Review corporate tax returnsReview corporate tax-reports to US-tax departmentReview direct tax account reconciliationsLiaise with Direct and Indirect Tax Centers of Excellence responsible for tax compliance matters and with external tax advisor/compliance firms.Liaise with tax authoritiesManage tax audits and litigationsEnsure adequate documentation for tax audits is prepared and storedLiaise with Global Tax team on international projectsProvide tax advice to management and business unitsReview contract proposal and provide tax positionTrack legislative changes and pro-actively inform local management, finance and regional tax functionManage local tax aspects of acquisitions and divestituresMaintain tax processes, identify weaknesses and find solutionsEnsure compliance with all relevant business and internal controlsRequired Technical and Professional Expertise: Ideally he/she have proved leadership as tax lead in one of the Big4 or as in-house tax lead in a MNC (ideally +5 years experience) in Argentina market.
Experience dealing with other markets in the region is a plus.
Bachelor's degree required.
He/she must demonstrate proficient use of technical tools and programs required to perform their responsibilities (such as: MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
), Cognos Analytics and similar tools.
Having commercial outlook, strong business acumen and awareness of risk would be to his/her advantage.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise: Advanced spoken and written English skills.
