Senior Lead Software Engineer - Python/SmalltalkJPMorgan Chase JOB DESCRIPTION Be an integral part of an agile team that's constantly pushing the envelope to enhance, build, and deliver top-notch technology products.
You will work directly with stakeholders to understand business cases and problems and be responsible for the full pipeline of software delivery.
You will build up relationships with internal clients and take full ownership for software delivery.
You should be a self-sufficient developer comfortable tackling new and complex problem sets.
This role offers a range of interesting opportunities, including close partnership with Middle Office, leading and mentoring a team, proposing innovative solutions, solving hard problems, and collaborating with other teams and stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.Work directly with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business context, and translate this into technical solutions.Develop secure and high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.Part of an agile and delivery-focused team working with global and local counterparts using best practices to produce high-quality software to solve business problems.Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that are leveraged across teams and functions.Lead and mentor a team and be a part of guiding careers.Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle.Influences leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.Advanced in one or more Object Oriented programming languages (Python, Smalltalk, C#/C++, Ruby or similar).Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices in particular Object Oriented Design.Fluent in English.Strong system troubleshooting skills, solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals.Creative, quick-thinking, pragmatic, with an aptitude for solving problems with technology and an ability to quickly translate requirements into a sound technical design and implementation.Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with no oversight.Excellent collaboration and organizational skills, decisive priority management, strong teamwork ethic, excellent verbal and written communication skills.Experience leading a team, conducting code reviews, mentoring and guiding more junior team members.Ability to present and effectively communicate with Senior Leaders and Executives.Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills Python and Smalltalk experience are a plus.10+ years of Software Development Experience.Knowledge on Financial Products/Industry domain or willingness to learn about it.Experience as Financial developer in the Rates Derivatives business.ABOUT US J.P.
