Job Overview: Responsible for all technical consultation in the body-in-white and paint process for the Sprinter Van for the North American market with the major focus on:
· Implementation of product changes, change management, technical evaluation of changes before and during serial production.
· Organize and perform all necessary problem solving activities as a task force leader for the assigned parts with international suppliers and local departments, ensure all vehicle functions, and create measures and escalations in case of deviations.
· Representing R&D headquarter functions to the production plant Charleston, specifically for Body-in-White and Paint/Corrosion Protection as a liaison engineer.
Actively supporting continuous improvement processes to improve product quality
Key Duties & Responsibilities
· Independently plan all required R&D-relevant activities (e.g. evaluation of deviation requests, product changes, change implementation) during the development process prior to serial production and ensure the implementation of changes to the parts
· Use complex R&D methods (e.g. root cause analysis, extensive component and vehicle testing) and failure analysis in event of unusual circumstances, incomplete or conflicting data, and suggest variations in approaches
· Take over the change management for product changes in case of escalations from the R&D engineer. Negotiate, in these cases, sustainable measures with quality department and supplier
· Support continuous improvement processes with independent concepts and initiate actions to improve products and/or processes with vendors and monitor effectiveness
· Initiate root-cause analysis and collaborate on solutions with other departments and vendors
· Evaluate and review potential campaigns and repair solutions
· Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings. Organize and lead task force meetings in case of product issues. Initiate, under general guidance and direction, further escalation steps

Qualifications
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience.
(or Master's degree with min. 3y of experience) Knowledge & Skills: · Experience in coordinating interdisciplinary projects
· Sound knowledge of Mercedes-Benz internal processes
· In depth body-in-white knowledge (Welding technologies, Body in white geometry and accuracy, Adhesives, Corrosion Protection, Crash Performance & Testing, etc.)
· Proficient in Mercedes-Benz fundamental systems: Engineering Client, Dialog, ACM
· Proficiency in Siemens NX
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
· Preferred fluency of German language, desirable knowledge of Spanish
· Analytical thinking, assertiveness and communication skills, capacity for teamwork
