Rotunda is seeking a detail-oriented frontend developer to help create a new generation of software tools for non-profits. Our flagship products are actively used by over 3,500 organizations and one million volunteers. The person who fills this position will develop rich user interfaces for these well-established products while also crafting brand new tools to help non-profits make the world a better place. In addition to a passion for building extraordinary user experiences, this position requires strong JavaScript skills, an intuitive sense of aesthetics, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, flexible, and ego-free environment.
Our modularized frontend framework is built using open source tools developed at Rotunda in conjunction with James Halliday (a.k.a @substack). The view layer of this framework is composed of a proprietary library of interface components. Beneath this library is a unique in-memory database and a GraphQL-like query language that powers a layer of isomorphic application logic. The individual who fills this position will be able to learn, leverage, and iterate on these unique and powerful tools.

Responsibilities Participate in three week, self-regulated development sprints Learn, leverage, and curate our proprietary frontend framework Implement elegant, intricate, and responsive user experiences using advanced JavaScript Write well structured HTML (using Nunjucks) and CSS (using SASS) for pages and components Creatively resolve UX puzzles, filling in gaps in mockups and formal requirements Carefully track action items to maintain the efficiency of the team Help design and develop new frameworks and components BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience At least 3 years of working experience with JavaScript, HTML & CSS An eye for detail, a sense of aesthetics, and a love for polished user experiences Strong technical skills, an open mind, and a hunger for challenges Advanced Proficiency in English A desire to do great work on meaningful products Salary determined by experience, minimum USD 5K + bonus A strong, closely-knit team A focus on growth including one-on-one mentoring and capacitation courses Big challenges and the opportunity for extreme innovation Stability (Rotunda has been self-funded and profitable for over 15 years) Work-life balance and a fully remote work environment done right Retreats (past destinations include Uruguay, San Francisco, Mexico, and Costa Rica) Paid sabbatical program
