Job Description And ResponsibilitiesVisa is seeking a senior attorney to support Visa's business operations in the Southern Cone. The position is based in Buenos Aires, and reports to the Head of Legal for the Southern Cone. ResponsibilitiesProvide legal support to the business teams in charge of business operations in the Southern Cone. Develop creative solutions and guide the team along the path to implementation by performing a structured legal analysis based on current complex payments industry and regulatory landscape, proactively identifying and communicating legal risks, and acting as a proactive partner in achieving business goals and objectives with sense of urgency but at the same time, protecting Visa's assets and interests.Deep understanding of payments regulatory environment and (i) expertise in relevant areas of the law, including commercial, payments regulations, fintechs, antitrust, intellectual property, privacy, antibribery, and in litigation proceedings -both administrative and judicial, and (ii) deployment of innovative technological payments solutions, such as digital wallets, fast funds payments, IoT, mobile payments, contactless, cryptos.Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, such as client incentive agreements, advertising and promotion agreements, sponsorship agreements, technology agreements, consultancy and contractor agreements, and confidentiality agreements. Ability to create templates and processes to expedite agreement drafting and improve time to market. This also includes development of template/standard documents or adapting U.S. documents to local requirements.Review marketing materials, press releases and public communications to ensure legal protection of Visa's assets, including its prestigious brand.Understand Visa's customers and competitors.Coordinate and supervise outside counsel for timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and excellence of service and work product. Manage standard matters with no supervision, assist on complex matters with supervision.This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.Qualifications• Admitted to practice law in Buenos Aires, Argentina with LL.M or equivalent degree, preferable abroad.• 10 to 12 years of commercial legal experience in private practice and/or in-house with multinationals.• Ideally, experience with banking, payments and fintechs regulation, knowledge of U.S. or common law.• Experience working in procedures with regulatory bodies, particularly with Central Banks, Antitrust Authorities and National Securities Commissions, ideal.• Excellent legal analytical skills with the ability to untangle and analyze complex legal issues and to integrate legal advice and business knowledge, while providing balanced, and strategic advice regarding risks.• First class written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English, including ability to lead or participate in conference calls to negotiate agreements in both languages.• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build strong working relationships with internal clients at all levels of management and work collaboratively with LAC regional and global teams to ensure effective management within matrix organization over multiple geographical locations.• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.• Extremely dedicated and organized. Works collaboratively in a team context to achieve shared goals in an inclusive and open manner. Respect for others and diversity care considered fundamental qualities for the position.
