Maintenance Operations Supervisor, West Africa MAF is a Christian organisation that utilises aviation and technology to provide assistance and hope to developing communities around the world. Founded in 1945, MAF currently serves in 31 countries.
MAF's history reflects a strong commitment to serving some of the most remote and hard-to-reach communities in the world. MAF's 116 aircraft, provide vital transportation services to medical personnel, development workers, and aid organisations across the globe. The organisation also delivers Bibles, church materials, and other resources to communities with limited access to Christian teaching material.
We are looking for a Maintenance Operations Supervisor (MOS) to join our West Africa programmes. You will take responsibility for managing inspections, equipment, stores, engineering staff and maintenance activities to ensure aircraft airworthiness meets international aviation standards, and operational efficiency is met against MAF Standard Operating Procedures. You will also have overall responsibility for the hangar, control of budget, and spare parts.
Responsibilities
The MOS will seek to maximise the availability of aircraft for mission by leading and managing the aircraft maintenance staff, ensuring their effective performance, training, and development is maintained. You will also manage the maintenance department facilities, equipment, and stores, ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements are met. You will also provide support to staff – mentoring and coaching them.
This includes:
Liaising with the registered Operator's controller of maintenance and Operations Manager regarding maintenance requests and hangar work schedule
Ensuring staff adhere to MAF Commitment to Safety and local OH&S regulations
Promoting a positive safety culture
You will manage the effective and efficient use of resources in the maintenance department by planning, upgrading and upkeep of engineering facilities and equipment, within budget constraints, such that regional maintenance and training needs can be met, this will include:
Assisting the programme management in the development of strategic and tactical plans
Ensuring that all necessary and applicable airworthiness information is available to the engineers
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential:
At least 5 years aircraft maintenance experience
At least 12 months working with MAF International
Ability to lead and direct others by example
Desirable:
Current aircraft maintenance engineering licence with applicable ratings
Ability to make decisions based on a values driven framework when resolving conflicting priorities
Excellent team communication skills
Computer literate and company systems literate e.g. WASP, Insight
Working knowledge of company engineering procedures and practices
