Tasks We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Solution Architect/System Owner to join our dynamic and diverse team that is based in Tokyo, Japan. As a Principal Solution Architect, you will take a non-disciplinary leadership role in owning and managing our existing financing systems within IT. Additionally, you will be responsible for designing, integrating, and/or setting up future systems, managing projects and programs, handling stakeholder communication, overseeing external human resources, managing vendors, and maintaining contracts. This position will report to the CIO Mercedes-Benz Finance Japan.
Responsibilities:
· Adopt a customer-first mindset and assume a leadership role in owning and managing our existing financing systems, ensuring their smooth operation in line with IT service management best practices, including but not limited to Release Management, Change Management, Incident Management and Problem Management.
· Design and set up future systems, aligning them with industry best practices and emerging technologies, as part of our digital transformation journey.
· Lead and manage projects and programs related to system implementation and upgrades in a fast-paced multinational, multicultural and globally distributed environment.
· Effectively manage budget (change as well as run) in area of responsibility.
· Actively participate in IT strategy discussions, contributing ideas and insights to drive our digital transformation.
· Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations and health of the financing systems across different countries and regions.
· Effectively communicate with stakeholders across various countries and regions in English (Japanese would also be very beneficial) to provide customer-centric technical solutions that are aligned with our global/regional/local strategies.
· Oversee and manage external human resources, ensuring efficient utilization and adherence to project timelines in distributed teams.
Manage vendors and contracts, ensuring compliance and value for money.
Qualifications Requirements:
· Fluency in English is a must, including excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in Japanese is a huge plus.
· Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Software Architect or in a similar role, preferably in the financial industry.
· Strong technical background (databases, data management, SW development frameworks like .Net or Spring, design patterns, etc.) and expertise in financing systems.
· Demonstrated project/program and agile product management skills (SAFe, Scrum, etc.) with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent stakeholder management abilities, with the capacity to effectively communicate and negotiate in English (and ideally also in Japanese) across different cultures.
· Experience in managing external resources and vendors in a global setting.
· Familiarity with IT strategy development and decision-making processes.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
· Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and in a multicultural team spread across various countries and regions.
· Demonstrated understanding of the importance of this position in driving digital transformation initiatives and delivering customer-centric solutions.
