Director (m/f/d) Legal Department Dsseldorf Salary: AT Overall Purpose of Job:
An exciting new opportunity has emerged for a motivated, high-qualified and experienced lawyer to join MUFG as Director for its primary Continental European banking, based in Dsseldorf.

The Director is responsible for providing a legal advisory service covering a wide range of commercial and investment banking transactions and operations within MBE.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage documentation risk relating to banking products provided by MBE.
Advise business operations on legal and regulatory matters.
Coordination with the broader MUFG EMEA Legal Department to leverage relevant expertise and ensure consistency of standards and approach, contributing to the wider MUFG issues as necessary.
Work closely with the various key stakeholders (Risk, Compliance, HR, Operations, Finance) to ensure a joined-up approach to matters and projects in MBE or across MUFG EMEA.
Keep abreast of changes in law, regulations and market practice as it affects banking facilities and documentation produced by the Divisions and ensure such changes are taken into account as new documentation and legal forms are prepared.
Attend industry forums and working groups.
Participate in working groups and committees of MBE and MUFG.
Act as legal counsel of MBE and liaise with auditors, regulators, external counsels, tax advisers, bankers and shareholders on board governance and legal issues.

Education

Fully qualified lawyer with first and second state examination

Work Experience

Minimum 8-12 years of relevant experience working in an international environment.
Possess strong knowledge and work experience in corporate laws and regulations in a financial services company.
Previous experience from working at a top international law firm preferred.

Functional/Technical Skills and Knowledge requirements

Possess strong knowledge and work experience in banking law and regulation
A sound knowledge of accounting principles and other banking procedures for assessment of credit and other banking risks are an asset
Experience in networking and working with diverse population
Ability to build effective and positive client relationships quickly and fully embrace the importance of client service
Ability to explain complex legal concepts to a non-technical audience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
