Our client is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to manage and maintain its internal development and test infrastructure and to assist in managing live client environments.
The role will report directly to the Head of IT Operations.
The role will include configuration of operating systems, open source components, configuration of monitoring and alerting and contribution to DevOps development of Ansible and Terraform roles.
Key responsibilities as a Linux Systems Administrator include:
- Infrastructure Provisioning.
- Hands-on management of infrastructure (both private cloud resources as well as physical resources such as laptops and workstations).
- Configuring networking for both virtual and physical environments.
- Creation of virtual machines and installation of host operating systems.
- Configuration of office equipment/firewalls.
- Incident Triage and Response.
- Management of support tickets and drive remedial work to mitigate an incident.
- Investigation and resolution of outages or abnormal system behaviours.
- Escalate incidents based on standard operating procedures, follow up and escalate until resolution.
- Management of alerts raised by infrastructure elements.
- Perform daily health checks (Network, servers & cloud platforms).
- Prepare and maintain documentation, reports and provide follow up status on identified tasks.
- Maintain and update documentation for standard operating procedures, upgrades and migrations.
- Provide support to internal teams to deliver IT services.
Skills required for the position:
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity of monitoring and logging systems (Zabbix, Graylog, DataDog).
- Knowledge of vCloud Director, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.x and RHEL operating systems is a must.
- Relevant Bachelors degree or equivalent.
