Job Overview: Support the maintenance management team in shaping the future strategy of the maintenance Team at MBV Charleston. Coordinate and align with partner plants all over the world, utilize the internal network to make the next step towards our Excellence goal.
Implement and establish maintenance strategy/ requirements (check list/ buy off) in the new project environment. Drive digitalization, Condition Monitoring, industry 4.0 and enable the transformation from preventive to predictive maintenance actions with standardized Integra solutions.
Responsibilities: Planning and implementation of new projects/ ramp up`s organization with regards to the Integra Standard and general technological development Independent execution of projects to implement the strategies (preventive measures, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, digitalization) Development of cloud based applications for data analysis and customer applications. Collaboration on complex and intelligent solutions for new applications in the digital application. Coordination and management of external development partners. Organization of laboratory experiments and test setups with later integration into series production Responsible for coordinating activities (PM's, TPM, problem solving) of third party contractors, vendors, or suppliers related to the maintenance field. Support in the establishment and expansion of processes for the assessment of reliability measures Monitor and improve equipment performance to reach robust and efficient process and uptime targets Drives the implementation of continuous improvement processes for efficiency to create a Lean Manufacturing environment. Development of maintenance strategies to ensure and continuously increase the efficiency of the production lines (redundancy concepts) Improvement of the L1 – L3 matrix in relation to the production line keeper concept Increasing the reliability and sustainability of our maintenance processes and equipment Coordinate cost reduction activities for all Body shop relevant budgets Participation in national and international teams of experts to exchange the latest technologies and operating experience Support training requirements for Technicians and Operators. Establish trainings as needed. Further development and definition of internal requirements and standards. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related area Maintenance experience in planning, development, and implementation of processes and technologies. Knowledge & Skills Broad network within the Mercedes- Benz organization in Cars & Vans is a plus Good knowledge of MS-Office applications, SAP and virtual meetings Experienced with Body shop conveyor technologies and other Body Shop applications Prior working knowledge in the Body shop of an automotive manufacturing plant preferred Ability to troubleshoot, instruct repair techniques, & assist if needed for root cause analysis in stressful situations Ability to present complex technical information related to achieving goals of the department. Must be able to evaluate alternative solutions and prepare decision making process Experienced in new ramp up`s (check list/ buy off) organizations with the Integra Standard Wave 5/6/7. Able to anticipate needs and deliver timely, relevant solutions and actions. Proven design & implementation of Continuous Improvement themes with savings Experience in process layout and optimization incorporating asset utilization is a plus. Interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in an intercultural, fast paced, changing, and growing environment. Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that produces Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC invested 500 million U.S. dollars in the construction of a new Sprinter production plant in addition to an expansion of the previous assembly operations. In September 2018, MBV officially opened its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade and is expected to create at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers.
More than 130,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
