Description
Within the New IT HUB Sales - Retail of the Future supporting the strategic Mercedes Benz Program we need a Program SRE & Ops Manager
The Program SRE & Ops Manager within Mercedes-Benz plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and operational excellence of IT systems. This role combines SRE practices with program management to lead and oversee IT operations and reliability initiatives across several products and product families
Description of role and responsibilities Enforce Monitoring, Alerting and Logging concepts elevating the quality, performance and resiliency towards the products
Coordinate activities between Sales Control Center and product teams with regards to Ops and SRE.
Support product teams in adopting SRE concepts by engaging in and improving the whole lifecycle of services from inception and design, through deployment, operation, refinement, and end of life (sundown)
Own the SLOs on program level and tracks them on products level.
Lead and manage IT operations, including network infrastructure, server management, and cloud services, to ensure the reliability and performance of systems.
Oversee SRE practices, such as monitoring, incident response, and reliability engineering, to maintain availability, latency, system resilience and overall system health. Ensure consistent SRE & Ops concepts are applied on program level.
Ensure that IT operations and SRE practices align with industry standards and best practices, including ITIL for service management.
Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and performance
Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT operations, SRE practices, and program management processes within the organization.
Qualifications
Education deg ree &technical experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT Management, or a STEM related field.
Relevant certifications, such as Certified Site Reliability Engineer (CSRE) or ITIL Expert, are advantageous.
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in IT operations, site reliability engineering (SRE), and program management.
Technical knowledge/Accountabilities Proficiency in SRE practices, including monitoring, incident response, and reliability engineering.
Strong understanding of IT operations and infrastructure management, including cloud services and on-premises systems.
Familiarity with industry-standard tools for SRE and IT operations, such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Nagios, as well as Cloup Ops.
Knowledge of ITIL practices for service management.
Designing, developing, and implementing tools and processes to automate system operations, reducing the risk of manual errors and increasing the efficiency of system administration tasks
Collaborating with software development teams to ensure that new software releases and updates are integrated with existing systems and that software architecture is optimized for performance and reliability
Experience (skills and years) 5+ years proven experience in managing IT operations and leading SRE initiatives to ensure system reliability and performance.
Successful collaboration with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and development teams.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement monitoring and incident response processes to enhance system reliability.
Knowledge of program management methodologies and experience in managing complex IT projects.
Proficiency in Cloud Ops and AWS Cloud (e.g., Dynatrace, Datadog)
Familiarity with logging, monitoring and alerting in Datadog
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Knowledge of the German language is a plus.
